Toronto Band The Balconies By: Sheena Lyonnais
March 08, 2010

Toronto’s indie pop rock sweethearts the Balconies are in the midst of a coast-to-coast cross Canada tour that conveniently swings through the city on Saturday.  It’s been quite the year for the lovers and brother trio, from releasing their critically acclaimed self-titled debut to performing alongside bands such as Mother Mother.  Drummer Liam Jaeger tells us more (kind of).

How are you doing and where are you right now?

Doing Awesome.  In Toronto where we live, and where things are awesome.

There are a lot of bands playing CMW, why should I watch yours?

It's going to be a high-energy sweat fest.  Also, the horseshoe is a sexy venue.

What are you doing to prepare for CMW?

Eating nachos, drinking beer and laughing a lot.  Band practice is good too.

What are you hoping to get out of the festival?

For people to have fun watching us.  The more people the better.

Tell me a tour story that is crazy but true.

Steven got mobbed by 15 drunken people in Halifax at 3 a.m. trying to get into the van after a gig at the Seahorse.  Then the starter died because it was -30 [degrees] outside.

What are you/your band working on at the moment?

In the middle of a coast-to-coast tour of Canada, playing tons of shows.  Just shot our first video, too.

Any last parting words for us music-hungry Toronto folk?

Come to the horseshoe at 9:20 on Saturday the 13th and party with us!
