CMW Preview: Manafest

Toronto Hip Hop Manafest By: Sheena Lyonnais
March 07, 2010

Toronto’s Manafest brings something different to the scene, and if that’s not enough to sell you then maybe this is.  The Juno nominated rock/rap musician has sold over 100,000 records and his 2006 hit “Impossible” featured Trevor McNevan of Thousand Foot Krutch.

Manafest’s fourth studio album the Chase drops March 30 and is produced by Adam Messinger (Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, The Cab).  Manafest, real name Chris Greenwood, took a minute to tell us why we should fit a little Manafest in our CMW schedule before he heads out on a semi-world tour.

How are you doing and where are you right now?

I'm good, just about to play a show in Barrie, Ontario and perform some new songs

There are a lot of bands playing CMW, why should I watch yours?

Because no one is doing rock/rap like they used to and we’re bringing a new flavour mixing hip hop.  And I'm a freak on stage.

What are you doing to prepare for CMW?

Push ups, sit-ups and finger crunches.

What are you hoping to get out of the festival?

Booking agent in Canada so I can lower my cell phone bill.  Network and meet industry professionals as well as other bands.

Tell me a tour story that is crazy but true.

I dated and married a model before she found out I wasn't famous!

What are you/your band working on at the moment?

Touring, touring and more touring. Shooting two more music videos. New record comes out March 30th

Any last parting words for us music-hungry Toronto folk?

Come see our show March 13th at Hard Luck Bar.  And check manafest.net .  I love you all.
