Victoria, British Columbia’s Jon and Roy will be performing three shows at this year’s CMW.  The band has recently become a four-piece and have been performing what they claim to be the best shows of their lives ever since.  They combine folk, roots and reggae into a dreamy, soothing ambience perfect for the cottage.  Vocalist/guitarist Jon Middleton and drummer/percussionist Roy Vizer tell us why we should join them in celebrating their love of good folk rock and bagels and perhaps why we should incorporate them into our summer playlists. 

How are you doing and where are you right now?

We are drinking coffee, eating bagels and rehearsing for Canadian Music Week.

There are a lot of bands playing CMW, why should I watch yours?

We carry a vast selection of hats, toques and toupees mixing them up randomly at every show.  Aside from that, we are now a four-piece band and have been playing the best sets of our lives the last few months. With our multi instrumentalist Dougal Bain Mclean on violin and mandolin and bass player Ryan Tonelli, the sets just keep getting better.

What are you doing to prepare for CMW?

Lots of stretching, meditating and playing a card game called “Lambsy”.  And don’t forget Gold Bond!

What are you hoping to get out of the festival?

We want to go out and meet some like minded musicians and people to expand our network so we can have more couches to sleep on.

Tell me a tour story that is crazy but true.

We slept in the Canmore hotel with our sheet covers and only one of us got bed bugs.

What are you/your band working on at the moment?

We are working on a reggae jam titled ‘Lambsy Bagel Boi.’

Any last parting words for us music-hungry Toronto folk?

Watch out for our manager Stephen Franke and his tour roll - you might wake up with him on your couch.
