Toronto’s Faithdown have been working extremely hard to prepare for their CMW performance.  They’ve postponed all of their other responsibilities from writing songs to planning their tour in order to focus all of their attention on what they guarantee will be an awesome experience.

Vocalist Jakson Humes took time from a rare moment of relaxation to tell us why we should pack the Hard Rock Café on Friday.  You won’t want to miss their story about their Montreal performance.  I am still laughing.

How are you doing and where are you right now?

I'm doing fantastic.  I'm chilling outside on my patio with some music cranked on my stereo!  It's hard not to be having a great day when it's a sunny Saturday and 10 degrees on March 6th!

There are a lot of bands playing CMW, why should I watch yours?

Faithdown is all about our live shows and you will never experience Faithdown properly unless you see us live.  Time and time again, people have said that they were impressed by our live show and thought we were even better live than on our recordings which is a HUGE compliment!  We want others to see us live and prove the same thing to them.  Our CMW set at Hard Rock Cafe next Friday, March 12th at 10pm will be awesome and packed with energy from the first note to the last one, so you'll be guaranteed an exciting live show experience.

What are you doing to prepare for CMW?

We have been rehearsing really hard the last few weeks to ensure we have the best live show possible and to ensure we leave a strong lasting impression on all those that catch us at CMW. We have also been working hard on our promotional kits for our music industry contacts, which include our full-length CD, a music video for our single "Red Circles" and some live show footage of us at the Opera House in the Fall of 2009.

What are you hoping to get out of the festival?

First of all, we are hoping to get some great exposure from the festival and gain more fans, which we always want to do with every live show.  We also want to garner some strong interest from the Canadian music industry in order to secure distribution and marketing/promotion support for our self-titled debut record.

Tell me a tour story that is crazy but true.

This is a story that leans more towards funny rather than crazy.  We had a show in Montreal and we decided we would all change our names to French names for the weekend we were in town and we could not admit they were fake names.  Tones was Jean-Guy, Paolo was Jean-Pierre, Jakson was Jean-Francois and Nick picked a classic, Jean-John!

We entered the venue upon arrival and introduced ourselves with our new French names and the show promoter seemed confused to hear we all had such French names being a band rolling in from Toronto.  The best thing was that the name Jean-John confused the promoter more as that is never a name you would hear in Quebec as Jean is John in French.  He kept asking Nick to repeat it over and over to better understand it but it did not help.

In the end, when we had the show promoter introduce us on stage, he used our made up French names still thinking they were ours and after announcing our names with Jean-John last, the whole crowd broke into a laugh. It got people into a great mood for our set and the laughs turned into cheers.  We then rocked their faces off just as we planned and never admitted to having different names.  Mission accomplished!

What are you/your band working on at the moment?

We are currently focused one hundred per cent on our headlining CMW showcase and ensuring we are prepared to put on a great show.  Prior to our CMW preparations we were working on writing some new songs, which were coming along really well.  We have taken a break from writing new material until after our CMW show and we will get right back into the rock laboratory to continue writing again as soon as we finalize our record release and touring plans.

Any last parting words for us music-hungry Toronto folk?
