Corduroy CMW Interview By: Sheena Lyonnais
March 06, 2010

I first met Corduroy when I worked at a somewhat-shady bar on Bloor St.  We spent a glorious summer together as I served them cheap beers on the patio and they told me stories about their band that was then called Whatever Happened to Corduroy.

That was two summers ago, and the band has since dropped the most part of their name and have done a terrific job establishing themselves in the Toronto scene.  Although still slightly hard to Google, the swanky psychedelic indie rock band is sure to prove their relevance at what will definitely be a killer show.  Last year their set was PACKED.  I can only imagine what this year will be like!  Vocalist Trevor Blumas gives us a clue.

How are you doing and where are you right now?

Ich bin gut. Danke.  I am currently at the Robarts Library at the University of Toronto, trying to study German.

There are a lot of bands playing CMW, why should I watch yours?

Good question. Why should you? Because you need to see The Schomberg Fair, and we're up right after them.  And you should support Sneaky Dee's by buying a beer afterwards, so you might just catch some of our set.

What are you doing to prepare for CMW?

On a similar routine to that of an Olympic athlete, eating only raw foods, lots of sleep and exercise. Re-runs of Becker.

What are you hoping to get out of the festival?

Some action!

Tell me a tour story that is crazy but true.

Hmmm, most of them are x-rated. But, invite me out for a beer some time and I'll spill my guts.

What are you/your band working on at the moment?

Gearing up to release the second installment of our demoroy series.  Should be releasing some of the new songs in a couple of weeks.

Any last parting words for us music-hungry Toronto folk?

We love you!
