| CMW Preview: Clothes Make the Man |
|
|
By: Sheena LyonnaisMarch 10, 2010 One thing I admire about Clothes Make the Man is their ability to continually perform solid rock music. Inspired by the 90s from grunge to garage, CMTM add an indie flare to their now double-decade old influences. They’re currently working on releasing their sophomore album Distance and have CMW listed as their only upcoming show. Drummer Ross Machon tells us more. How are you doing and where are you right now? We’re doing fine, thank you. Right now I’m at work pretending to be productive. There are a lot of bands playing CMW, why should I watch yours? Because U2 once played at the El Mocambo, and I’ll be the first to let this little secret out, they are joining us on stage as our second, third, fourth and fifth drummers. What are you doing to prepare for CMW? Yoga, road hockey, poutine eating, binge drinking and maybe rehearsing. What are you hoping to get out of the festival? An extremely lucrative, multi-billion dollar recording contract or a Compact Disc sale. Tell me a tour story that is crazy but true. Once on tour, Meez accidentally passed gas in the van, resulting in Ryan passing out whilst driving, and we drove off the Confederation Bridge, going to PEI, and we all died, but then Phil came back to life, because he is a redhead, and did mouth-to-mouth on Ross, bringing him back to life. Then while the van was sinking in the Northhumberland Strait, Ross used the band-van defibrillator to re-animate Meez and Ryan, and we all swam with our gear to Shediac, New Brunswick and finished the cross Canada tour on foot and skateboards. What are you/your band working on at the moment? Putting out our second full-length album and recording a 90’s dance covers EP of horrible songs. Any last parting words for us music-hungry Toronto folk? Going to shows is fun. Enjoy more shows with the awesome people of Toronto.
