We at Toronto Music Scene are suckers for skating in the winter and, considering last night we made snowman cookies, this seems like a good time to announce Harbourfront's DJ skate nights. From the release: Harbourfront Centre’s DJ Skate Night transforms the Natrel® Rink into funky skating sessions. Every Saturday night from Dec. 3, 2011 to Feb.18, 2012 (except Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve) features a new DJ spinning groovy tunes including house, funk, soul, reggae, soca and pop-rock from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

SAID THE WHALE announce their forthcoming new studio album will be called Little Mountain and released internationally on March 6, 2012 via Hidden Pony Records/EMI. The 15 track long player will be the band’s third record. Today, November 8 the 2011 Juno Award Winners for New Group Of The Year will release the lead single from Little Mountain, the dancefloor-catchy Heavy Ceiling which features an unmistakable and contemporary nod to The Knack’s My Sharona in the chorus. The single reflects the confident, complete and razor sharp sound we can expect from this new Said The Whale album. Little Mountain was produced by Tom Dobrzanski and mixed by multiple Grammy Award winner, Jack Joseph Puig.

Earlier this year, at the 2011 SONISPHERE festival in Bohemia, the CANCER BATS surprised fans by performing an entire set of BLACK SABBATH covers as BAT SABBATH (editor's note: name possibly stolen from a local TO rec baseball team?). The set was such a hit and so much fun to do, that the band has decided to once again become BAT SABBATH for a series of live dates in Ontario and Quebec.

Montreal's Young Galaxy has released their latest video for "Phantoms" just in time for Halloween. Their latest single off 2011's Polaris Nominated album Shapeshifting features two sheet-clad ghosts on a journey through the night. It is filmed rather beautifully.
